How the Exhausts System and Header improve performance in Civic 05?
Eh, you guys got it backwards. Lol. Breathing through a straw is like having a stock intake. Putting a cold air intake allows the car to breathe better. Now, having the stock exhaust system is like being constipated. Its hard for the car to push stuff out. Headers/Cat-delete/performance muffler all allow the car to release exhaust better. You don't want to go too big on piping though. Too much air flow can actually decrease your hp, and make the car annoyingly loud and obnoxious.
The person above me is correct. Only imagine if you put a test pipe on the exhaust. Now you have a free flowing exhaust with not back pressure. A test pipe eliminates the catalytic converter. So now your not breathing through a straw and you took off your face mask. Now your breathing 100% air with no restriction. Headers, test pipe, and a 3 inch exhaust pipe connected to a performance muffler could free up as much as 10-12 hp. I have a 02 Civic Si (K20A3) and when I changed my exhaust to what I just stated, i got a 14hp gain. i also have a 2.5 inch cold intake system.
Look in your local paper and yellow pages for a ceramics shop. Usually you can go to one and they'll fire your project. It's not expensive because they need to fill the kiln for it to work at its optimum.
Yes it is for ceramic. I think the kiln could be built with bricks and fire+oxygen. Look at how the first clay builders did it if you want old school tech. I believe they used charcoal. Your oven will not get hot enough and sustain the heat needed with out burning the house down. You can build a small charcoal kiln for not much. It will take 10 times the time used to make the object you wish to fire.
They help the car breathe. Imagine running a marathon or doing the 100 meter dash only being able to breathe through a straw. Your body would severely held back because of lack of oxygen. The new exhaust components basically remove the restrictions. This can add horsepower but on a civic it might only add 5 horsepower. Nothing really noticeable.
