I shampooed my carpet and now have lumps that have risen in the middle of the room?
The carpet will lay back down in a couple of days, on its own. The problem does go back to the original installation however, as it was poorly done.
My Whole House Could Use Some Fixing.
It is possible it will lay back down. If it doesn't you can have it done for $100-200 depending on room size. You can also do it yourself by renting a re-stretcher and knee kicker. Just pull back carpet as far back as the wrinkles are. The re-stretcher is designed to hook onto the tackstrip and pull the carpet tight.
Wait for the carpet to dry first.. if it's still lumped up, make sure it's not the subfloor delaminating from water. If it is the carpet, you can rent a carpet stretcher and a knee kicker to stretch it out. The carpet is only held by the wall with tack strips which are like yard sticks with nails sticking up. It's not a hard process to do .. just a real pain in the ****.
