So I have new replacement blades for my pontiac sunbird, but can‘t get the old wiper blade arms off!! it has a rod that fastens the wiper arm (attached to my car) to the wiper blade. Only the little rod has liketeethto keep it in place. I have pictures of what I am describing if you need to see it.I‘ll send them to you in an email. ugh, I just want to replace them already!!! Thanks for any help!!
if you,ll go to advance auto parts and buy the blades, they will install them free of charge, auto zone will also do the same thing, good luck,i hope this help,s.
Some wiper blades will have some sort of metal release tab that is located on the wiper blade itself . These release tabs will be located in the area of the wiper blade that connects to the wiper arm . There will be one of two types of release tabs , one you push with your finger , or one that you push through a square hole with a small screw driver . Then pull the wiper blade at the same time as the tab is pressed . If you do not see any type of release tab on the wiper blade . Then the only proper way is to find a flathead screwdriver , or butter knife . Right where the blade connects to the arm , just fit the screwdriver ( butterknife ) between the arm and blade where they connect and twist the screwdriver and the wiper blade should just pop off . The new blades will be much easier to put on . You should hear a click when you put them on . Take care !
I have a mustang I only drive in nice weather. I replace the blades like every 4 years. The answer is replace them as often as you need too. When your getting streaks, replace them.
