Question:

how to separate the component of ore.?

how to separate the component of ore.?

Answer:

It depends a lot on the type of ore and the element to be extracted. Sulfide ores (such as those of copper, lead, and zinc), are usually separated from waste rock by froth flotation, and the metals removed by smelting. The metals are sometimes refined further by electrolysis to purify them. Oxide ores of base metals (especially copper) are leached with sulfuric acid (or even digested by bacteria!), and the resulting solution electrolyzed or reduced with scrap iron. Iron ore is purified of contaminants, mainly silica, by adding limestone to blast furnaces to form a slag that carries away impurities. There are other methods for different ores and metals.
