Question:

I am 16 and want to get a motorcycle?

I am currently (16) years old amp; I am wanting to buy my first motorcycle. Let me first start by saying: I have rode a 150cc Scooter on the (ROAD) since I was (12) years old.I (DO) know the laws of the road and I have had a lot of on road experience. I driven the scooter on freeways as well. Before the 150cc scooter I use to ride my brothers YZ250. I am EXPERIENCED.I am VERY mature about riding too. I have never gotten pulled over, because the police know I am a (RESPONSIBLE) rider. Summer is coming up and I want to purchase my first (REAL) bike.I was looking at the 2013 Suzuki GSX-R 600. The GSX-R‘s above 2008 have a A.B.C mode which basically means it has 3 power modes. A: is full power, B: is about 75% power amp; C: is for riding in rainI realize 600 is a lot to start on but I have been on the road for 4 years now, on a scooter that would do 65MPH. And I (DO) have my license. Since I have had on road experience should I get the GSXR?

Answer:

A motorcycle IS NOT a scooter and doesn't handle, brake or accelerate like a scooter. Even though you claim to have four years of riding a scooter, you're NOT ready for one of the most powerful motorcycles you can buy (size and weight). A Gixer is pretty much a full-on race bike with lights and turn signals. I suggest you start out on something a bit milder. Like a Kawasaki Ninja 500, or even a Suzuki V-Strom 650. These bikes have the improved performance you're looking for, but NOT the uncontrollable power of the GSX-R. Get three or four more years of experience with one of these bikes, and then MAYBE you'll be ready for a Gixer.
What the wyzrdof dude said. But why not use the stock size?
What's with all the inappropriate parenthesis and caps? And how would the police know you are a responsible rider (hint: they don't since responsible riders don't ride without a license for 3+ years as you did). As for your question - I think a 600 is a lot of bike for a 16 year old even with your experience. And if you really are a mature safe rider you will be fine with a less powerful bike that will be cheaper to buy, insure, and get better gas mileage.
Going 65mph with a scooter, versus going 165mph with a GSX-R is quite a difference. We are talking a Fun World Go-Kart versus a V8 muscle car. I am VERY mature about riding too. - Basically means you are not, and will abuse the tar out of a gixxer if you get one. If you were actually mature about it, you wouldn't explain to us on how you have avoided the police, you would have just naturally done it by good behavior. So do I think it is a good choice? No I do not. If you want Suzuki, get a SFV650 or something. Still probably more powerful than you should get, but better choice than a 600cc race replica for a teenager who hasn't been on anything but a scooter.
Anything other than stock size is a *downgrade* -- bigger may rub parts and will hurt performance.
