You can start volunteering for the fire department around 16 depending upon your state. The academy is a specific training and let me tell you it is very grueling and most people don't pass the physical test that they put you through. You can google an academy and look up what they have to do. Secondly, there are also degrees in fire science at some colleges. Which is also a very good choice because then you can become a Captain. Go volunteer and check it out. It will be great community service which counts when applying for scholarships. And do well in school so you if you decide to get a degree and become a Fireman then you will be chosen over another person who didn't do as well.
