Question:

I have a car and money question?

i recently asked a question about my first car. i loved all the advice given and it took a lot of consideration, i chose the lincoln navigator. i‘ve been looking on craigslist and found a buttload of really nice looking navigators for under $7500. I‘m 15 years old and have plenty of time to think and re-think this decision. the navigator has everything i nedd, 3rd row seats, heated seats, etc.i really need money!!!! i have a whopping total of 0 dollars and a lot to gain. How? im trying to get a job when i turn 16 and need other ways (legal!!!) im really impatient and maybe this is one time i need patience. am i making a good choice in the navigator? i know it has low gas mileage but i like big SUV‘s. thanks.

Answer:

When that airbag suspension takes a dump and you are out $2000 to rebuild it, you still gonna think highly of that cheap navigator? Learn from everyone else.their resale is garbage for a reason. Go find an Expedition with fewer of those expensive bells and whistles that are prone to breakage and live with that. When that heated seat coil goes bye-bye.$800 for a new set-up. You sure you thought this over? Just because this ride has low resale doesn't mean you won't still get bent over for parts.
A good first car is one that runs with very little maintenance and repairs. The Navigator is not that car. You need something practical dude, unless your folks are going to pay your way. What do you need a 3rd row for? You only need room for 1 passenger, a girl! You don't want to be the chauffeur for all your car-less friends, and that's what you'll be with a Navigator. And if you get a job, you'll want that money for taking girls to dinner, not fixing your old-azz ride. If you like big SUVs, buy something you can afford and stay in school. Soon you'll be able to buy the car you want. For now, focus on being young and having fun, a car won't bring you happiness.
Navigators have had a history to have a fault in the suspension system. Now you can't just look at the appearance you need to recognize the engine, tires, motor oil, filters, fluids, rotors, exhaust, and also maintenance as well as insurance. If you have $0 and you buy a big SUV with low gas mileage, expensive maintenance, insurance, etc. You have so see this. I have a nice Nissan Armada and it costs me around $30-40 for gas every week. So that is $120-160 of gas alone. Now full coverage insurance that is $600. Also insurance companies are more expensive on teenage drivers than on adults. A teen is like $100-250 dollars more depending on the company. Also I don't know if you know this but the cheap things in life end up being expensive. Well happy shopping P.S. I highly recommend an import vehicle
