Question:

i have a cocoa color sofa with a shade of brown carpet what color do i paint walls and what color curtains?

i have a cocoa color sofa with a shade of brown carpet what color do i paint walls and what color curtains?

Answer:

I would do the walls a coffee/espresso colored if thats too dark then just do cream, tan or just white, white looks great making your house look more open, but if you want a cozy feeling paint it cream or offwhite or tan. I would use maroon and gold curtains, because i have a chocolate leather sectional sofa and i used maroon and gold curtains with beads hanging so you could do that
What colors do you like? Do a combo of honey walls, patterned drapes with lime green and cream, green and warm orange throw pillows, with an intermediate shade of brown throw. Add textures, lots of table lamps, floor lamp, ottoman, and accessories that pick up some of these colors. Do cream walls with one red accent wall. Put pattern either on the drapes or on some of the throw pillows; medium yellow would be a great accent color, as well as some different shade of browns (limit these to a couple more). Do medium grayish navy walls, cream drapes with either a stripe in them, or a bottom border to provide some interest. Use honey color and dull green for accent colors.
Go okorder ... Search living rooms and type cocoa in the search box. Make the sofa that color and it will show the coordinating colors that go with it. There are 2 shades of cocoa so choose the one most like your sofa. I would do the wall with the window the darker color and use ivory curtains. They could have a print on them as long as it contains the cocoa and the paint color. Use accent pillows with the same wall colors.
I have a microfiber sectional that is cocoa. The color of my carpet is sugar, its light but has some beige and brown specks in it. When I bought the sectional I first painted my walls cream, I didn't like it. The next color was a soft sage. I really liked it with the sage, it had a very comfortable, relaxing feel to the room. After a couple of years I wanted a different look so I painted the walls cider. I love it and everyone who has seen the room compliments me on my color choices. I have a lot of light in the room, 1 big bow window and french doors. I have micro suede swags on the windows in cocoa. My tables are oak and my table lamps are black (cream shades). I have black for a little accent color and several leafy green plants along with 1 big leafy plant that has green, yellow, orange and red leaves in it. 1 poster said bright agua, I tried that between the sage green and the cider colors, did not like it at all and a week later is when I painted the walls cider.
Colors that go well with cocoa are: Spicy color combos like: golden tan, rusty red, cinnamon, burnt oranges, sage green, golds, red tones, and coral. Think autumn leaves. Find inspiration in a pillow or from browsing through the Home Decorating section of a fabric store where you will find fabric color combinations to match your couch. You can get some great buys on pillows at T J Maxx, Home Goods and Marshall's. Also, Target and Pier One have some great pillow selections. If you don't like the spicy color pallet, you can select one or a combination of these colors: Creamy Yellow Light Blue Aqua Blue (with a turquoise tinge) Lime Green Coral It is much easier to find patterns and colors in pillows/fabric/curtains first, THEN, find a paint to match instead of the other way around. There is a lot to be said about feature walls painted an accent color, as well. Go to the paint store and select all the shades of paint you like and bring them home. Through the process of elimination, you will have a good idea what you like, right there in front of you. Although it may seem overwhelming, it does not have to be. Simply by finding an inspiration through fabric or art work, the rest is easy and it'll pull everything together for you. Remember, unless you absolutely love it when you see it, move on until you find what you like. Good Luck
