Try turning up the heat. Sometimes when the weather changes suddenly the alarm will start chirping. Not sure why the temperature makes a difference but it does. It stops within 5 minutes when I turn up the heater

It is hard wired into the electrical system of our house doesn't have a battery backup (that I can see). How do I stop it from chirping short of hitting it with a bat in the middle of the night? Or is it time for a new one?
it sounds like its the back up battery ( might not be user changeablee which is why you cant see it ) assuming your detectors are the same and have a test button, switch off power at the mains and try the test button - this should prove if you have batteries fitted
Ours are hard wired as well but still have a battery that needs to be changed once a year. Batteries in smoke detectors are not easy to find but are 9 volts. In our last home, we had to pull the whole detector down to find the battery compartment. In this home, there is a little hard to see door on the outside. Take a flashlight and get a good look. There is a battery compartment somewhere on yours. You don't need new detectors.
