If you have recently turned your unit over to heat, this will be a normal issue. It will be the particles being burnt off of the heat strips (they accumulate during the summer months). If you are not using heat yet, the only person I know to have it checked by would be an a/c repair person. Do keep in mind that a female has a much stronger sense of smell than males do. But if this is happening, have her smell the other vents in the house. If it is just one vent and not any others there is a problem somewhere else. Good luck
