I have a Meade 114EQ-ASTR(discontinued Model). I need a replacement Declination control cable and a red dot viewfinder. Since the model is discontinued, I am unable to get the parts directly from Meade unless I purchase an entire new Scope. To prevent that, I need help finding a site that sells these parts for this model. I searched a lot of sites, but was unsuccessful. Please Yahoo answers, Help me out!
Yes. Even if one decides not to care for his/her looks, it is some expression of his/her personality But as long as it's just a part and not the actual personality as a whole, I don't feel too superficial about that :)
1. There are lots of other red dot viewfinders that could be mounted on your telescope. 2. I'll bet that declination control cable is very similar to one you might find someplace like McMaster-Carr. They have a huge online catalog of mechanical pieces and parts, including flexible shaft drives.

There are sites where even older discontinued part (like your control cable) can be located - and there are several groups of Meade enthusiasts on-line that may be able to suggest alternatives that you can use. As for the red-dot finder, try looking at a sporting goods store for a BB-gun red-dot finder. Last time I checked (a couple of years ago) I recall that the Daisy red-dot was around $10 - $12, and the Crossman was $15 - $20.
