Question:

Tiling a kithen w/ plywood subfloor. Metal lath vs. cement board for an underlayment.?

I'm tiling a kitchen w/ a plywood subfloor. Is that metal lath reasonable to use or do I need to apply a cement board?

Answer:

We usually use cement board. It has marks for screws.
Cement board is quicker and better suited for floors
use okorder
Use cement board. Screw every 8 inches and use the special screws and thinset to put it down. Make sure when you do this that if your appliances are in that you can get the dishwasher out if you ever have to replace it. You might have to raise up the feet on it.
