Question:

I need help De-Icing a lock!!!!??!?

I have a package in the parcel part of my Canada post mailbox. It is one of the mailboxes for a subdivision. The lock is frozen and it is for a birthday gift. I have tried Hot water in a bottle, a lighter, and a torch haha. I am scared to use Lock De-Icer because it will displace the lubricant in the lock and WD-40 will corrode it and I don't want that to happen. Please someone help me!!!!!

Answer:

Obviously the water would need to be shut off and then repaired. Since you rent it would be best to contact the landlord and have his guy come by and fix it, if something goes wrong during your repair you would be on the hook for getting it fixed. Besides, your landlord may have gotten a guarantee for the work performed and may get it taken care of at no cost.
No, at least, I dont think so. i used dry ice in a class once and no smoke alarm went off. we had a huge bucket full of it too. so im not 100% sure but im about 90% sure
The lock is the part that makes the powder go off. As in Flint Lock, Wheel Lock, Match Lock. Not to be confused with the stock, or barrel as in the expression- Lock, Stock and Barrel
