Question:

Best way to clog up a propane pipe?

I recently discovered that the stove downstairs in my home wasn‘t working. I shut the gas off (it‘s propane) and removed the stove, now there is just an open copper pipe about the diameter of a dime. Once I turn the gas back on propane is going to come pouring through it, so I need a permanent way to clog the pipe up (I don‘t intend on using the stove anymore) which won‘t leak propane into the room. Thanks.

When you disconnected the stove there had to have been a fitting that you undid, correct? If so, go to the hardware and get a gas valve that will fit on that fitting and install it. Shut the valve and turn on the gas, problem solved.
Chris, You will need to thread the end of the pipe and cap it. Best to call a pro.
Trace the copper line that served the stove back to the source piping. You can probably remove the copper and install a cap or a valve. It could very well be there is a valve already in place and all you have to do is turn it off.
