Question:

I want to make cloth diaper covers, AIO, and pocket diapers.?

I have all the patterns I need but wanted to know about fabrics. I found things online but they don‘t answer my question. I have a pair of workout like pants by abercrombie and they are made with 100% Polyester, would this fabric be best for an outer layer only with fleece being the inner layer? As for fleece, I have a few 100% fleece hoodies I can use but I have 2 that are 75% fleece and 25%Rayon how will this effect my diapers. What about nylon from the inside of a suit jacket I no longer wear? Could it be used in between 2 layers of fleece or only as an outer? I would like to try and get the most use out of fabrics I already have and recycle them.#92;Thanks for your help.

Answer:

The fabrics will really be trial and error with recycled materials. Lots of people have success cutting up old towels to make fitted diapers and using microfibre cleaning towels to make stuffers for pocket diapers. When it comes to fleece, most should be okay to line the interior of pocket and AIOs. The biggest problem you will have is with the waterproof outer fabric. You will probably want to buy some PUL or Procare and not chance that. If you know how to knit then you could knit some wool covers and just make fitted diapers. Some people also use 100% wool sweaters and cut them up to make wool covers too, if you don't know how to knit.
