it isnt over heated or anything it just randomly did it then i hit the back switch to shut it off and i flipped the switch back on and its back to normal. anybody have any idea what this could be? thanks
turn it off for 50 minutes and it will work again. thats normal, just let it rest ;)
The PS3 auto shutting off with the blinking red light and 3 beeps is in fact due to overheating. It is a built-in safety feature designed to prevent serious hardware damage from the system overheating. It is a normal occurrence, however if it begins to happen after only a short amount of game-time, and repeatedly, it is a sign of the thermal paste and the heat-syncs failing, and it will only be a matter of time before it YLOD's. Make sure your PS3 is off of a carpeted floor, standing vertical (If it is one of the launch ps3's) and at least 6 inches away from walls etc.
