Let's see: We have no relations with Syria. POTUS says that credible evidence of the use of chem weapons will result in a US military response, meant as a deterrent to their use. Such weapons are used, but the UN report is not yet back on who used them. Sec'y of State Kerry says that if Assad turns over said weapons, that would be a game changer to the USA's statement of attack. He also says he does not believe Assad would agree to such a thing. Assad says yes. Russia offers to mediate, as Syria is its ally, and we still have no relations to Syria. Should the mediation be successful, Assad will sign the 1925 Gas Warfare Treaty and put his chem weapons under international control, thus achieving Obama's aim without warfare. Exactly what in this means Putin has pulled anything out of the fire? It was our Sec'y of State's idea, Putin just offered to help the process along.
