Question:

Ignition lock cylinder/switch for camaro?

I have a 1994 Camaro v6 and the security light has started to blink more often. Sometimes when I try to start the car, it blinks about once a second and a couple times it has come on while I was driving. After a few minutes I can usually get the car started but it's a pain to deal with this. I'm thinking this is a problem with a failing ignition lock cylinder or possibly the ignition switch but I'm taking it to a mechanic to check exactly what the problem is. Since I'm not the most mechanically inclined person I don't want to leave it up to the shop to decide what to replace. Is it better to replace both the lock cylinder and switch at the same time or is that unnecessary?

Answer:

It depends on where you live in Michigan, some places are colder than others. I would maybe suggest a space heater though, since he's sleeping in the garage. My grandma does that for her cats and it works out great.
I retired as a pilot 10 years ago and at that time they did not. There is a smoke detector in the cargo bay but it is not IR. If someone emails you with more current info, I would enjoy hearing about it.
Pax jet? Is that a new kind of jet engine?
When the fire detection system detects smoke and heat, Halon is released to smother the fire. Airplanes can tolerate this condition for a long time- one of the requirements for overwater flight is having enough Halon bottle capacity to keep a fire smothered for the duration needed to return to land from the maximum overwater distance- 3 or 4 hours.
