Question:

Aluminum vrsParchment?

im baking a cake and it says to line the cake pans with parchment paperI dont have any parchment or wax papershould i go with out? or can i use aluminum?

Answer:

Not sure what your reason is for not wanting the electric heat - the heating element isn't exposed like a toaster, most BB heat is well-protected from burning and shock hazards (but of course check whatever model you buy to ensure that the grilles, etc, are sufficient to keep small fingers and toys outAlso, most are designed to be hardwired in, so there's no plug and outlet requiredFailing that, isn't there some other way to run a duct down there besides under the slab (through a wall? any closets right above the room that you could run a line through?)?
I would go with encapsulated fiberglass batts, make sure they are air tight and fit perfectlyOr better yet, spray foam, you can buy kits on-line, a bit pricey, but seal well and have good R-Values.
Fiberglas, with a vapour barrier, It' less expensive and no so hard to install.
First.never use wax paper in the oven .And do not line a cake pan with aluminum foilIf you don't have parchment paper.then grease and flour the pan. These are just ways to keep the cake from sticking.
