It's very destinctive right so like If I ended up with brain cancer, I could thearetically argue this happened from a neighbor followin me around all of the time with it tuned way up.. Has anything like this ever happened before? How did it turn out in court? I'm really only asking because this guy upstairs follows me around with his - think- because I'll feel heat and pressure when he stands right over me and I hear the noise of a metal detector.

Just need to change the batteries.
There should be a connector that you can unplug somewhere in the cable that runs from the outlet box to the detector. It won't look like an electrical cable, though, more like a computer's hard drive power connector, a probably white-colored boxy thing. If you're lucky, the replacement detector will come with the same plug, but I don't know if they are standardized in that respect. . .
