Question:

Internal SD Card reader not working?

I have a 4GB SDHC card and I used to always use it with my laptops internal reader, so I know that works. I got another SDHC Card 4GB and plugged it into the same reader and it didn't show up, I tried using my old card that had previously worked and now that does not show up either. Any clues how to fix this or I have just busted my internal reader? I also use XP in case that helps. Neither of them were locked/ are locked either. They work in my cameras just not my laptop.

I would check in your device manager and make sure that the device has drivers installed and it shows it functioning properly in the device properties. Other than that there is not much you can do if it a hardware fault as most of the readers are embedded on t he motherboard. You can however get a usb SD card reader relatively for inexpensive price.

Sd Card Reader Not Working
Click start, right click on My computer, then click properties. Next go to the hardware tab at the top, then click device manager. Click the plus next to disk drives, right click on your media card reader and click uninstall. Now restart your computer, make sure you have no card in the slot, and after your computer is restarted and installed the driver, try putting your sd card in again.
