i have xp service pack 2.still the reader not working ,i need the driver for it.it a memory card reader
If the USB port is working properly, when you insert an item in the reader it should be available as a drive in My Computer or Windows Explorer.
did any drivers came with card reader if it did I would assume you have to install it, and be sure usb ports are working properly.
Sounds like a problem with the USB controller, have a look in the device manager, see if there is a warning against the controller and update that driver.
That's weird. Usb card readers are normally plug and play devices in Win XP. It should work without any drivers needed. Or it could be your USB slot driver is not installed. Try inserting another USB device. If it doesn't also work, then your USB driver is the problem. Install it using the CD driver supplied with the motherboard.
