Question:

Is it bad for your motorcycle chain to cleaning using water?

I have a Honda CBR 600RR and the following is the procedure I use to clean my chain:1. Use Motul Chain Clean to get all the gunk off. I use a grunge brush as well.2. Use a water hose to get the remaining dirt off. I do this until chain looks really clean and spotless.3. I dry with microfiber towel and time. Upon doing so, I apply chain lube.I do apply the chain clean throughout the whole chain for at least two revolutions. The reason why I use water is because after scrubbing with the grunge brush, it only looks like I brushed the teeth and I still need to rinse off all the dirt/grime.I was wondering if I could use water to rinse off the remaining gunk, because I find that allows me to use a lot less chain clean than usual. Thanks,Alex

Answer:

I suspect they have battery back up. Check for the batteries.
Wrap it in a small towel and place it under the seat, over the rear fender support. That's why I recommend a clear visor and sunglasses. Do you have a ledge under the windscreen?
