ok so i am 19 and i have live in detroit since i was born in the same house with the same people and i really want to move to new york so when i get done with school next year i hopefully be moving so i would like to know Is it crazy expensive to live in new york where are The cheapest areas to live and is it easy to find a job thanks for the help
Some thoughtsYou need to - have a large thickness of material made up mainly of small air pockets; - keep the mass as small as possible (or energy is used heating the box) So make a light weight double-walled box and fill the gap with whichever you think best - fibres or granules - choose whichever gives a bigger proportion of air pocketsYou could also have a second box to put the first in; if you do this, there should be an air gap (or fill space between boxes with fibre or granules)You can line the inner box with the aluminium to reflect infra red back in without increasing the mass too much.
Since you're still in school, why not look into doing a summer internship here in NY? Not only would that help you get a foot in the door job-wise, but you can see for yourself what neighborhoods here would suit you best and what you can realistically affordYou might also meet other interns who could turn into future roommates, which would offset the cost of rent Rents here, even in more affordable areas, are higher than most other places in the country, so you need to be prepared for thatBut the other poster is right: It's much cheaper to live in the outer boroughs or in nearby New Jersey than it is to live in ManhattanAlthough there is a women's hotel on 34th street between 10th and 11th that's kind of like a dorm for womenYou have your own room and there are common areas that are shared by all the residents, like the cafeteriaYou aren't allowed any male overnight guests and female overnight guests have to pay a small feeBut two meals a day are included and rent is pretty minimal (at least half what you'd pay for a regular apartment in Manhattan)The YMCA also offers extended stays at reasonable rates, until you get settled In the meantime, save up your money so that if/when you do move here, you have first and last month's rent ready to go, and money for furniture and whatever else you'd needAnd it's best to land a job before you move hereAlthough there are always ways to cut costs, NYC is an expensive place and we are in a recessionSo it's safer to job hunt from Detroit and come for interviews if need be.
