Get a recorder, on cell phone's. When the dog gets nervous pull it out ask a question wait 20 seconds ask another etc If u listen u hear all this static try to hear an answer inside the static.
As far as I know every bedroom and the hall must have a fire alarm. I do not believe that living rooms and kitchens are required to have them.
