I drive a Lincoln Town Car 1991, which despite its age, is a great reliable car. I have always taken care of it, doing preventive maintance and fixing problems if they arise early. Now the airbag in my suspension is broken. I can still drive it to and from work (15 minutes down the road each way) and thats all the real strain I put on it. The shop wants 650 to have it fixed.
They have aftermarket kits for these cars now that get rid of your airbag system and put conventional coilsprings in place. It costs a couple hundred bucks to get it but saves you from having to replace other parts that will fail in the airbag system
lots of them are broken and people still drive them if you don't have any extra weight you won't do any damage
If you're not sure about installing an aftermarket system yourself, you could buy the parts and have a local tire or repair shop install them for you.
