Question:

Is it worth the money to upgrade my factory intake to a cold air intake on my 2014 Chevy Cruz 1.8 ls. what about the exhaust system?

I‘m looking at k and n CAI. And a borla exhaust system. In all it will cost me 1000. I‘m just looking to get more hp and mpg.

Answer:

A 1000 whatever that means to you to gain 4 horsepower? Really? The brand names of items are proper names and must be capitalized. KN is a company that makes several car products.
Wow - kind of hard to say without knowing what they are made of. If it says to wipe them they are likely not down, or hypoallergenic stuff that is washable. If you can, find out the material it's made of - usually on the label and search the web for how to clean xxxx Pillows Here's a URL for cleaning pillows in general - I don't know if it applies to your situation: www.anyclean .uk/articles/how-t.
You won't be able to get them unbunched or back to their original state, but popping em in the dryer (med or high heat) for a while will help air fluff them, and the heat will help kill any of those gross microorganisms lurking within. actually--I wrote this assuming the pillows were a cotton or poly blend. I'd have to know the actual fabric and filling content to help you accurately.
Since you have a 2014 car and youre looking to mod it, that tells me that you have money to play with. I would say do what you want since you have the money to but adding a CAI will only give you a little better air flow. It probably wont even give you 5hp and if it does, you wont feel/notice it at all. If you want to go faster buy a car with a bigger liter motor. If you like your car, I would save up and turbocharge it which is more costly but will give incredibly more noticeable power than a CAI. Like amazing power and speed lol
Both are a waste of time. They are not restrictions on modern vehicles. Expensive modifications like changing displacement, camshafts, heads, and headers would help and MIGHT need larger exhaust, but then the TB starts being a restriction, etc. Engines are systems. Modifying one thing upsets the balance and means you are actually being counter-productive.
