For the first month or two, do layers. Onesies, pants, and other layettes (pjs, two piece suits), and one I really liked were gowns. If it's warm enough, you can just keep baby in just a onesie or with some pants. Or if it's a bit on the colder side, you can put baby in a gown or in some PJs. Plus, if you take baby out, you shouldn't be dressing baby in too many bulky layers like heavy jackets because of carseat safety anyway, so using multiple blankets could help with keeping baby warm when hauling baby around out in public. So go for layettes and some long sleeve onesies and then summer clothing for when she's a few months older.
