Yeah, that's sterile enough. But, I wouldn't use a safety pin. I would use a fresh needle if you MUST do this at home by yourself. I personally think you're kinda dumb, but I pulled the same thing when I was your age. I only used a thumb tack instead and thank God my nose never got infected. But, from then on I went and got all my other piercings done professionally. So, I would instead go to your local supermarket and buy a pack of sewing needles for 2$, and then go through your painful and overcautious process. It is sterile enough, thats more than they do at the shops. But really, no safety pin. Who knows where thats been. And I would buy a nice ring meant for your lip, because normal cheap earrings aren't meant to get wet. So hmm. Good luck I suppose.
Very good question. I want to do this experiment now. But, I'm pretty sure the answer is d. There is no conflict with light moving in a straight line because you know already that even for a single slit, light doesn't move in straight line. And, on top of that, it isn't technically correct to say light is moving in a straight line it is radiating outward with a spherical symmetry in your example.
