Question:

Leak on the bathroom?

I am having a leak on a metallic tube, what can I use to seal it off? I tried a potty that is sold on walmart but it doesn't stay firm. any ideas?

Answer:

know what I've been thinking? ever notice how much a riot squad looks like a Roman Legion in battle when they quell a riot? effective, no?
If this is one of those deals where the door has a grille in it to allow return air to the furnace then you're out of luck. But, assuming that the returns are elsewhere in the house and there are return ducts then: Don't put anything inside the closet - too much fire hazard. Maybe hang a pretty rug over the door to the closet? It'll brighten your room and hide that door. Also, you could get some stick on foam weatherstrip and seal the door better. (just make sure there is a vent to let combustion air into the closet) If it's a crappy hollow core door, maybe replace it with solid or hang some fairly dense stuff on the back of it - like a layer of sheetrock (mass loaded vinyl is correct, but too hard to purchase). What sort of noise is the furnace making - they're loud, but not that loud. It could be that too many vents are obstructed and that's making the fan noise louder, could be an inducer fan going bad (sounds like a little jet taking off?), could be the main blower bearings are going bad (low rumbling noise). It's worth having a furnace man look at it.
