does lime or lemon juice help it? ive heard of it before but i dont know anyone whos ever used it. is there anyone whos used it had it work for them? did it make it worse?pleasethankyou :)
Depends on how fine the particles are and how well mixed to contact the acid soil how much is applied .there would be very little change in a few days and even when showing a reaction could get get more effect by re tilling so more acid soil comes in contact with lime so can alter ph levels. Its not good to alter ph to much at a time maybe 1 point in a year is the figure can't recall exactly. was talking broad acres for these measures. Wow that was a sneaky one thumbs up for that. and Hondu for knowing that i gave hondu a thumbs up also but point out that HYDRATED LIME is another name for SLAKED LIME wikipedia states.
You don't use slaked lime to raise soil Ph. Use agriculture lime, also called hydrated lime. Slaked lime will rapidly absorb water from the soil and generate enough heat to burn plants and their roots. The pH rise will strictly depend on the type of soil and the amount of lime you use. Apply ag lime as per manufacturer's directions.
Both lime and lemon juice are acidic and will lower the ph of soil, how much is dependent on how much you use. You need to get some ph strips or a meter to test the soil. Different plants have different preferences for ph. Some like more acidic soil, some like neutral or base. If you want a fast growing plant, beans would be a good choice.
Without knowing the quantities of either, it's hard to tell. If you followed the instructions, it should rise by a full point or more.
