Loud exhaust system question - please help!!?

I just bought myself an 02 Toyota Yaris T Sport, its a fantastic wee car i love it BUT it came with a stainless steel back box which has a tip which around 3-4 inches in diameter lol.needless to say it isnt quiet.part of the reason i love the car is because its quick, but no1 expects it to be quick -but its not as inconspicuous with a really loud exhaust - so.do i need to change the whole back box (muffler + tip - i think?) or just the tip?the car also has an apexi filter but the sound ultimately comes from the exhaust lolso yea. tip or muffler + tip?cheers!

Answer:

If you change the muffler it'll get quieter but you'll lose some of the peep.
One of the reasons for the quickness could be due to the larger diameter of the tailpipes and muffler. Slightly larger pipes are less restrictve to the exhaust. This paired with a high volume air intake system or a supercharger will create more horsepower and quicker speeds. Changing the exhaust will decrease efficiency and performance. If the Yaris is stock there should be little difference if an OEM muffler is installed. Go to a reputable muffler shop for advice. Then go to another to make sure.
mufflers usually come with a new tip so you would have to buy a new muffler. btw that car is not that quick.
