i have to buy a monitor , quite confused. i had seen led and lcd monitor(samsung mist). in terms of clearity i found lcd is more clear. its pictures seems to be alive. but still i am very confused which one to buy.
LCD Liquid crystal Display LED Light emitting diode LED TVs are technically a member of the LCD TV family. The display screen on a LED is a liquid crystal display the same as it is on any other LCD TV. The main difference between the two lies with different backlighting techniques which may change the picture quality characteristics dramatically. Traditional LCDs have used some form of flourescent lighting from tubes to much more advanced flat arrays of lights. LED TVs use Light Emitting Diodes to light the LCD panel.
Contrast ratio determines amount of Different color your monitor can display. If your monitor has higher contrast, the color will be more better. You can take a look at those monitors on retail shops, their color varies right? I can tell you that Between LED monitor and LCD monitor, LED monitor will have a nicer picture and more colorful than LCD monitors. This is because LED monitors has a contrast of 100000:1 or you could look at ACER LED monitors some have 12,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Which makes a very colorful pictures. Note: From my experiences, for Monitors only, LED and LCD monitors doesn't make any difference. But fot TV, its a lot of difference.
LCD is a technology that has been around for years and it well-tested. LED TVs and monitors are rather new, but offer better color, refresh rates, and picture quality - for a price. LED screens are much more expensive than their LCD counterparts. If you have the money, buy an LED. Otherwise, stick with the LCD; either way, both are good.

I don't know how much this will help, but here goes: LCD Liquid crystal Display LED Light emitting diode Samsung makes a very good quality t.v. Before mine was stolen, I owned a 40' Samsung LCD that worked great. A few months later, they came out with the LED t.v.'s and I looked into it myself. A Plasma t.v. uses about the same energy as another refrigerator in your house. An LCD uses about half that, and lasts longer. An LED uses about half again of an LCD, doesn't have any mercury (If you are a green type of person), and has about 10-20 times the constrast of an LCD. Your eye can't really see 10 million colors, but is the slight difference between hues that you will notice. If the $200-400 buck difference doesn't phase you, I would go with the LED. I have heard they last longer, as well. Don't get me wrong, I loved my LCD, just LED's hadn't come out yet. BTW, be sure to get at least 120 hertz.
