One of these bands are considered quot;Metalquot; and one is not. Which is which?
I like Nu Metal some of it is really off and popping, all really dope **** that is off the hook and people hate for no ******* reason. Let the haters hate, **** them. **** those *******. Ironically, Black Metal is a huge ******* pose, everything about that genre, way more than Nu Metal. I could say the same as Death Metal, since 90 percent of the listeners would never kill someone in their lives. Way much of bigger pose than Nu Metal ever was. By the way, Rob Halford was gay, does that mean all Metal fans are gay? no. So stop assuming everyone who listens to Nu Metal only wears big pants, has spiked hair with frosted tips/dreadlocks, only wears addidas clothing, wears red caps, looks like Eminem with bleached white hair, only wears Hip Hop clothing, etc.
In my personal opinion, it just sucks. Most of the bands aren't any good at all and quite a few of them lack any originality and seem rather generic. KoЯn is the only nu metal band I like, everything else is either crap or only has a few spare hits I find tolerable. That and most die-hard metalheads don't fully embrace it as metal either and seem to resent the fact that it's labeled metal. I can't say I blame them for that but I don't go as far as to consider the whole genre as not metal. I say some nu metal bands are metal and some simply aren't. For example, bands like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and Papa Roach seem to have more in common with alternative and hip-hop rather than metal whereas bands like KoЯn and Deftones have more in common with metal. So yeah, it's now become a rather cult-status genre. After the mainstream snapped out of their nu metal craze, most nu metal bands either changed their style to alternative metal, industrial metal or hard rock or simply disbanded altogether.
Because a lot of stuff called Nu-Metal is easily placed in other genres and loosely defined or just really bad. Hed PE is an example of good Nu-Metal to me. A lot of things people call Nu metal is actually Alternative Metal for example System of a Down, and Godsmack.
Well the reason why I don't have much love for Nu is that it's too generic and unoriginal like the songs have the same 3-5 chords and no solos, the teen angst lyrics, and also the vocals are midrange mediocrity. I'm not saying Nu Metal is bad, I'm just giving my opinions about it. They are some exceptions in Nu Metal like Deftones, System of a Down, Sevendust, and some of KoRn's early stuff.
I love it. Hell, Korn is one of my favorite bands in general. I'm actually sick of all the borders extremely strict Metal lovers draw around each genre of music. I mean, who gives a ****? Nu-Metal = Metal..Metalcore = Metal..Deathcore = Metal. There's no damn use in even trying to border it. It is how it is.
