Noticed on the front tire it has pretty decent dry rot not slight you can see it. I bought a replacement tire but not sure how to put it on myself. I would like to ride it to the shop to get it fixed 2 miles away its a straight path except 1 turn at an intersection. Should i tow the motorcycle or chance it and ride there? The road on the way to the shop has a 35mph speed limit.
Dry rot happened long before you noticed and you rode then with no worries, ride it there. Changing tires is easy , except for tubes, but balancing is not, have it done by ppl who know how with the right equipment.
It takes 12 seconds for Yahoo Answers web page to load for me to be able to click on [add your answer] button. thus, is my laptop slow?
axle bearings in older cars and trucks were in the rear and were serviced usually by replacement wheel bearings were in the front and servicable they needed packing at specified times in your car the front wheel bearing could be called an axle bearing it is usually serviced by replacement rear is a wheel bearing.
Since you needed to ask, I'll assume popping a wheelie all the way to the shop is out of the question !?! 8D 2 miles?, should be fine, but take it easy and if it does go flat steer straight and NO BRAKING on the front and put as much weight on the rear as possible.
You can't fix dry rot. Your tires need to be replaced as soon as possible. Dry rot means the rubber has begun to deteriorate, no matter how good the tread looks. Not only do you risk a blow-out, but old tires have less traction due to the hardening of the rubber. Your life is worth more than the price of a couple tires.
