Question:

motorcycle tire sizing?

so i am trying to find the right tires for my 1981 kawasaki kz250. so the specifications i have been able to read from the faded specs under the seat say. front 2.75-18 4pr and the rear says 4.60-S16 4 pr. i know it has a top speed of 90. so p rated tires minimum. i hope im right in saying that the front tire is 2.75 width and 18 rim size. and the rear is 4.60 width 16 rim size. but the real issue seems to be in finding the size online. im finding many more metric sizes. so the question is, what would be a good metric conversion. will 120/90-16 fit the rear for example? (for some reason metric sizing has inches as well) what would be safe metric sizing for these tires?

Answer:

Have you heard? The bird is the word.
Do a search on tyre conversion charts.
4.6 MULTIPLIED BY 25.4 EQUALS 117MM SO YES A 120MM WIDE WILL FIT ITS STILL 16 INCH DIAMETER
