Question:

Mr cat licks fleece blankets?

My female cat licks fleece blankets, it looks like she is making out with the blanket, and she kneads it at the same timeIt leaves the blanket all wetHas anyone ever heard of this, or know why she does it?

Answer:

It's harmful, go buy some glass
The tin foil is extremely harmful to your brainAluminum cans aren't better.
Many cats do this, especially Siamese and other Oriental breedsIt also happens sometimes with kitties who were weaned early- sometimes beginning in middle age! It's a comfort behavior, kind of like a child who sucks his thumb I had a Persian who loved one particular stuffed animal of mineShe would seek it out and love on it, drool on it and suckle it for hoursShe was definitely weaned early, so I agree that early weaning can lead to this behavior Cats sometimes find a texture or an object that they like, and it becomes a sort of pacifier to them This behavior isn't so unusual, really, and for the most part, it's harmlessHowever, be sure that your kitty isn't swallowing a lot of fabric fibers in the processYou can try offering your kitty her own flannel baby blanket so that she leaves yours aloneFlannel also is less likely to shed fibers that your kitty could swallow and which could collect in her tummy and intestines Hope this helps.
