Question:

My 350$ HJC motorcyle helmet keeps fogging!?

I just got a new 350$ HJC dot and snell approved motorcycle helmet (I got 50% off, so I payed 175$ around) for my 50cc scooter.Whenever the face shield is down and I breath from my mouth, then helmet fogs up! And I am no longer able to see! What is wrong? is there a antifog spray or something??This really bothers me should I return the helmet? is it a defect? What should I do to stop this from happening? Thanks in advance!

Answer:

The use of studded tires is the best solution. IT will be best to purchase 4 new snow tires that have the studs installed. Most states allow their use from Nov through April. Then you have your regular tires put back on. It is the best solution because you do not have time to install chains or other traction devices when en route to your clients. You also may want to cary a container of cheap cat litter. Use it to get started after parking. Your warm tires will melt the snow you park on. Sometimes getting out of that groove is difficult. Applying the cat litter will solve that problem.
You don''t need food grade but you do need to step up from bathroom grade caulk and adhesive which can be used for small flattish molding jobs by washing it, as Tigri has pointed out here several times, but it is too adhesive to use straight (including to tools and fingers, besides the model) and it too stiff to take up the details of a full round piece like chess and figurines. You need to use two part liquid silicone rubber and learn to make at least two section molds because of the stiffness of poured set silicone compared to peeling off thin latex molds which need a plaster backing. If you go to the trouble of painting on the silicone rubber for thinness and economy, it also needs a backing mold. Refer to others for pigment cautions.
