and some steering components. Anything I should know before doing this? Any tips to reduce the noise I hear when I go over a bump or turn the steering wheel? Thanks for your time.
It really doesn't matter. Just pump or blow it until the tire feels hard. Don't worry about over inflating it either, that's really hard to do.
The pressure range is printed on the side wall. 45-50 is normal depending on your weight.
Squeaks over small bumps can be bad stabilizer bar bushings. Jack up the vehicle and shake the bar to see if there is any play in the bushing, if tight just remove them and lube with silicon grease. If you get noise while turning the steering you may have dry ball joints. If they don't take grease replace the grease zerk or the complete ball joint. If you have coil springs, check them for signs of rubbing. I'd hit the coil spring contact areas with a good spray grease.
you do not want to put globs of grease all over the underside of your car. grease is wierd stuff it can spontaneaously catch fire for no reason sometimes so its best to remove what you dont need from the open air. lube the tie rod ends and the Ujoints that have zircon fittings. some u joints may be factory still and have no fittings. ball joints get lubed and anything you see with a grease fitting. Most oil change places look up how many fittings on your car need grease then count as the go. check with the oil change place next time and make sure it gets done and how many they did. there may be other thigs squeaking that are too close to something like your exhaust system or also heat shields get messed up pay attention when underneath and look for potential problems. what type of steering set up? if iyt has rack and pinion and some fords do it could be locking up from lack of lubricatrion and burn out the power steering pump too. food for though
drive ur car to the engineer shop and have them look at it
