I have a card reader that came with my computer and for some reason it will not read the cards anymore. The card reader on my tower has a light that comes on when I put the card in it, but now it doesn't. I have a Compaq Presario SR1630NX. The card reader I have is a Maxtor 6L200P0
Driver issue; go in to Device Manager and locate the entry for it. Once found, delete it and after you reboot, Windoze will find it again and re-establish the driver properly.
One of the cables may have come loose inside the case, or it could have just died :( Or as Eric said, a bad driver. Go to the maxtor website and try to find the drivers for the card reader. Install them and see if that helps.
