Question:

my cat wont stop scrathing my wood chairs!!?

i tried buying her a scratcher, she uses it, but she still scratches my wood room set chairs. its getting annoying. no matter how much i yell her, does it anyway.

Answer:

You could try putting double-sided tape on the areas that the cat scratches on the chairs. It's totally harmless (she won't want to scratch the chairs if they're sticky) and it won't harm your furniture either. Some pet stores also sell a spray that you can buy that people can't smell, but it smells bad to cats. This works for us too. Once she sees that she can't go near the chairs, she'll go right back to using the scratcher. Good luck :)
Cats scratch furniture as a way of marking their territory, out of boredom and for help in taking off the outer layer of their claws. Yelling at kitty will not stop it from the bad scratching behaviour- it will only teach it not to scratch when you are around. Try putting the scratcher next to the chair or next to where the cat hangs out the most or sleeps. Also, you can try things like double stick furniture tape that they sell in pet aisles especially for this purpose or even wrapping aluminum foil around the chair. Making sure that you are also trimming her claws regularly will help with the problem too. Cats are going to scratch on something, so make sure it has some type of suitable post or horizontal scratcher to scratch on and give it lots of positive reinforcement. The particular scratcher you bought may not appeal to kitty- if it is not stable and wobbles when it tries to scratch it will not use it. Also it may prefer a certain type of scratcher (i.e. my cat will not touch the carpet covered scratching post we bought her but can't get enough of her cardboard horizontal scratcher). A healthy dose of catnip on the scratcher will also help to make it more interesting for kitty.
It depends on the age of the puppy to how you can scold it.Not just puppies eat cat poop but grown dogs do to.Always keep your litter box clean. You must let it no some way that its a bad thing to do.Tell it no or bad with a loud voice.Never hit it.I have cats and dogs and I had to train them to stay out of the litter box.It need to understand you don't like that and sometimes it can hurt there feelings which is a good thing.Clean the box daily and eventually there won't be anything there for it to eat.And it will stop.
Cat's brains don't have a clue about the details you are screaming at it.Buy some spray cat repellent at the pet store and spray it on the wood....I'm sure your cat will get the idea....but you know cats got to scratch and sharpen those claws. It's just their instinct and survival mechanism.Don't yell....get her a nice and exciting scratching post maybe. You can make one yourself for cheap.Put catnip by it.Good luck!!
