Question:

my computer is not responding to me pluging in a usb cable for my printer.?

i have a HP Photosmart 7850 and my computer doesn't respond to me plugging in the cable. My computer has responded to a external dvd drive and a digital cam.

Answer:

yeah, you will need a driver to configure your printer anyways because if using microsoft operating system it only has generic drivers for it that will not work.
Did the printer come with a driver to install?
look someplace else. fantastically much all - different than some - printers have the comparable usb plug thingy. that's which you have not put in the printer utility or Uninstall the utility Then unplug the printer Then reinstall the utility without the printer being plugged in Then while the putting up is finished plug the printer back and it may artwork.
With the computer booted up, plug in the printer USB cable then switch on the printer. Windows will detect new hardware and install the driver. If not install the printer driver from the supplied disk and follow instructions. Turn the printer on when asked.
Unplug those other devices and see if the printer is seen. If not do this First . unplug the printer from the PC USB cable Then click on start click on control panel click on system click on hardware click on device manager click on scroll down the list for Universal Serial Bus Controllers Now on each one right click click on uninstall each one Reboot the PC Once you get back after the reboot Windows will re-install each USB port for you. Once that's done reconnect the printer. If it works then you can use it! If not Uninstall the driver and software for the printer. Again do all of the above step by step After the reboot. Install the driver and software make sure you don't attach the printer to the PC yet until the installation program tells you so. If it still doesn't work then there is a problem with the printer an it needs to be look at or replaced.
