Question:

My dogs seem to be afraid of my vacuum cleaner, so why is this?

Why are my dogs afraid of the vacuum? One of my dogs runs from it, and the other trys to attack it...why?

Answer:

Dogs hearing is very sensitive. While some noises they shrug off others they react too. As my dog ignores the hourly church bell chimes, she howls during the noon siren from the courthouse. Also the back and forth motions may appear as aggressive intimidating movements.
All of the dogs in the world are scared of vacuum cleaners. lol Even my dogs try to assault it and they sometimes bark at it XD It's normal and if you watch them how they act you'll actually laugh
My dog barks at mine. Think of it this way... The vacuum cleaner is loud to us, right? A dog's hearing is around 4x better than ours, so to them, it makes one hell of a noise. Wouldn't you be scared of an extremely loud thing, that moves, if you didn't know what it was?
My dog use to try to attack all my vacuum cleaners (Dust Buster, Upright, Sweeper) but I solved the problem by spraying him with a water bottle and saying NO once and now all I have to do is show him the spray bottle and he just goes to another part of the house.
-I think the hissing Noise- freaks Them out ! My 3 dogs are the SAME Way . When the Vacuum Cleaner comes out, -THEY Disappear !! ;)
