Is there a way to disable them.they are all interconnected thorugh out the house. When one alarms, all of them alarm. I have changed all of the batteries and there is no fire in the house. I am going crazy.
i am sure you thought of this but it sounds like dead batteries.
Try Youtube: Mend a Walkman/cassette player It's probably a broken drive belt aka a rubber band, and these can still be bought for use in small mechanical devices. The main problem might be how to take the case apart, I don't know if a Walkman is screwed or glued together. It can be a very fiddly thing to do. If you manage to get it working, this would be a good time to clean the record/playback head and the rubber pinch wheel, using meths.aka Rubbing Alcohol. There may also be other drive belts you would be wise to replace.
If you are in the US they can fire you for no reason at all. Not showing is defineitly a reason.
