my lap top over heats when im burning movies and heres the thing i have a cooling pad wuts wrong with it its an AMD altholon 64x2 TK-57 ive never had this prob before with a laptop i just bought this one its an HP DV6700 it dose not over heat while playing games or rugular use just burning movies i use Nero 7 Ultra Edition
Burners can really hog up some juice, mine used to shut my whole pc down regularly, and I have a powerful rig. Turns out it was nero's fault though, I switched to imgburn and it never happened again. Try that, it's free, and the best burner, even if you still have your heat issue!
LOL im sorry, but your question sounds as if the top of your lap is burning. lol laptop is one word, and there is nothing you can do about an overheating laptop exept dont put it on soft material (put it on a hard surface so the air can get underneath)
Maybe it just takes forever to burn... so heats up. So it could be the duration of the time you burn the movies. If its not the extensive time it takes, then there could be something wrong with the laptop so I reckon you should return it and get a refund!! Good luck.
When you are burning movies, the heat is produced due to the laser beam the electronics controlling the data transfer including the HDD. When a DVD is burned, heat levels do rise considerably. You can follow these simple steps when burning movies: 1) Place the laptop on a solid flat surface (preferably metallic) rather than on the bed. 2) Switch on the room-fan or make sure there is good ventilation at all times i.e. do not place it in a corner. 3) Close all programs, unnecessary services etc. so as to reduce the CPU load. 4) If you are still not satisfied, you can burn the DVD at a lower speed (2x or 4x) - this would really cause a significant reduction in the heat levels. 5) As the last option you may try burning with Nero 6, as it takes up much lesser system resources than Nero 7 (e.g. Nero Scout in Nero 7 takes up the RAM CPU even when it not being actually used or even when it is not used at all) *) Optionally you can un-tick the box which says similar to - verify the files after burning (This tick box shows up when you are just one click away from actually starting the burning process) Hope this solves your problem. Took a hard-long time to type.
over time your fan will pick up dust and throw it at the heat exchanger.. this will start to block the air flow for cooling.. You need to either take it apart and clean it or have a tech do it for you.. and as you've learned cooling pads don't do much for the internal heating issues you are experiencing.. Oh, and I'll bet your fan is on high most of the time too?
