Question:

My teenage son is very naughty?

I have a 17 year old boy that never listens to me or anyone. He has trouble in school with his behavior. Had to send him to another school which was hard because they never accepted him.. unfortunately.Anyway, he swears at me? which I don't like it's sad really. Not swearing as in just f*u*ck off or something but actual your a b*tch type of words. I cried that night of course I acted all tough in front of him to act like I don't care but yes It hurts. He doesn't get off the game console when I tell him to. Slams the door on me, doesn't want to do his homework or help around the house when I need a hand. I've had to get out of work because of phone calls from the head masters office. He doesn't seem to have trouble with people in the school the girls seem to like him. Well I remember when I was in school i liked the naughty kids too. So yeah any help on how I can deal with this behavior? Thanks guys ^_^

Answer:

Here are literally thousands of organized woodworking projects in a members area and all you have to do is get them off your computer any time you want. Go here
By running, you are adding oxygen to the flame, which is what it needs to stay lit. When you wrap them in a fire blanket, you are cutting off the fuel supply, just like if you put a container around a candle.
You and whomever you are arguing with are both correct - with limitations. Assuming that your fireplace has a reliable flue. - so you don't suffocate. If you keep the door closed to the one room and the fire as. safe. as you can, it will effectively keep your one room nice and cosy. If you are in a smallish home and just have the one fireplace, by having a healthy fire going (don't burn the place down type fire), by keeping all internal doors OPEN, you will be able to warm up the entire place - not by too much, depending on outside temperature and structure of your building, but it will warm up. Take the chill off the air at the very least - draw the cold moisture out of the air, if you get what I mean. Also depends on how big your fire is and how long you have it burning. If you have a nice moderate/biggish sized fire going, in a solid brick type (small) home, it will be toasty warm within a few hours. Am just a bit confuddled about the 'heats the metal' bit of your question. If you are living in a house/cottage/shed-type home (un-insulated cladding) made of colourbond/corrugated iron etc. - then you are better off keeping the one room warm as the heat will dissipate as quickly as you can generate it if you try to warm other rooms The outside temperature will be negating the internal warmth. You may get a bit of the chill out of the inside temperature, but it won't last. The thicker the walls, the better the insulation/heat loss. Hope you have a cute housemate that you get on well with in case you run out of firewood!
If you keep door open it will draft more and if it drafts more the heated air in room will go up flue. It's like keeping the icebox open to cool the house, the heat given off by the fridge will overcome the cold. Now you can get fan devices that fit under the door and blow heated air into the room which I used to have before I got the coal burning insert. But the only way to win this argument is to put a thermometer in the room and for one week door open, one week door closed and check average temperature to see who wins. Simple. I'm betting on door closed.
