Question:

New Bulldozer CPU 2011?

I honestly just heard about the new cpu bulldozer yesterday, and from what i heard it sounds amazing. But i still lack a lot of information about it and was wondering if you can explain to me what makes Bulldozer so good. Also, when will these CPU be released cause my graduation is coming up and that means money and I don't want to wait 4 months to buy a laptop.

Answer:

Well. It's suppose to come out next month I believe. As for what makes it so good...? Idk, but I know one will have 8 cores.
It sounds amazing sure. I currently run an AMD system and I was looking forward to upgrading to bulldozer. However amd has had problems with its B0 and B1 silicon (basically their first two production attempts) the problems were the processors weren't performing adequately and weren't competitive enough with intels current lineup. Last word was that B1s performance sucked so they have a B2 stepping currently in production. Also the release date for bulldozer is september 2011. Needless to say I was frustrated so I'm planning on upgrading next week to a core i5 2500k with 16gb ddr3 and just overclocking it to 4ghz on air. Also it will be longer than september until these chips will be available to oems lkie hp and dell. Aka end of september. The highest end bulldozer is AMD FX-8130p 8 core processor @ 3.4ghz which will cost $320 individually.
bulldozer is a fail, they tack on more cores to look like it's a more powerful processor when the fact is your only using 2 cores or so when browsing your desktop and 2-4 cores when gaming so 8 cores is redundant. If you were to do some major video editing, then yes, it's great stuff. AMD will always be a generation behind from now on and will have to compete in the budget market segment.
