That's pretty interesting. Immediately springs to mind: Heating on too high/low at night? Some kind of regular loud noise in the middle of the night (traffic?Building? etc). It'd wake you up but you wouldn't notice. Obvious - but maybe the 5 year old is waking up first them waking everyone else up
For starters you can really mess up your exhaust or even bottom out. This would be bad and it is practically mandatory to slow down for speed bumps. Also speed bumps usually serve a purpose so just slow down for them and everyone will be safe.
