I'm an EMT and I prfer the nitrle or the safety plus latex (blue) as it is 15 mil thick.
Handling techniques (such as cornering, sountersteering, etc.) are important too, as is knowing how to fall. a good pair or gloves to protect hands in teh event of fall is good to have and shaving your legs so that any wounds are easier to clean after a fall. another thing that helps with safety is just experience to strengthen the nerves when riding so fast at such close quarters.
Corey Hart shouldnt be starting over Gaby Sanchez or even Desmond Jennings if you pick him up. Pick up a SP, Bedard will get run support, and I think Buehrle is having an underrated great season (not many Ks but will get you 7 inn 2-4 er and like 5Ks every start)
