Oscilloscope as a measuring voltage instrument, compared with the ordinary voltmeter, what are the advantages and disadvantages?
Oscillograph is a kind of electronic measuring instrument with wide range of uses. It can transform the electrical signals invisible to the naked eye into visible images, so that people can study the changing process of electrical phenomena. An oscilloscope uses a narrow, high velocity electron beam to hit a screen with a fluorescent material to produce tiny spots of light (which is the work of a conventional analog oscilloscope).
As an instrument for measuring voltage, oscilloscope can measure the shape of alternating current or pulse current more accurately than ordinary voltmeter.
Under the action of the measured signal, the electron beam is like a pen's pen tip. It can depict the instantaneous change curve of the measured signal on the screen surface. The oscillograph can observe the waveform curves of various signal amplitudes with time, and can also use it to test various electric quantities, such as voltage, current, frequency, phase difference, modulation amplitude and so on.
